Rules updates / clarifications

Post by mikem91 » Fri Sep 15, 2017 9:12 am

Clarification - starship weapon range isn't a max range. it's a range increment like character scale weapons. I think we just interpreted that wrong.

Core p320
Range and Arc
First, determine the range between the two starships (counted in
hexes) and the arc of attack. For every range increment beyond
the first, the gunnery check takes a cumulative –2 penalty. The
attacking starship can fire a weapon against only ships in the
same arc as that weapon; see the diagram on page 318. If the
targeted starship is in a hex that lies in two arcs (the shaded
hexes in the diagram), the gunner decides which arc’s weapons
target it; it can’t be targeted by weapons in two arcs.

Gino mentioned that the facing of turrets needs to be declared each round. I'm not finding that rule. help?

I knew the range increment thing, but somehow my brain never actually connected it to running starship combat.

Now, I have no idea where I got the idea that turrets needed to be declared at the beginning of the turn. Unless we find a source, ignore that claim.
