Efficient Bandolier

Reloading a weapon or inserting a new
battery (including ejecting a spent cartridge or battery if
necessary) takes a move action.

Page 226
Efficient Bandolier
This bandolier fits over any Medium creature and contains five
compartments, each corresponding to a specific type of weapon:
melee weapons, small arms, longarms, heavy weapons, and
explosives. Each compartment contains an extradimensional
space designed to house up to 1 bulk of ammunition or batteries
(for this purpose, 10 batteries or pieces of ammunition with
no bulk count as having light bulk). The bandolier does not
accumulate bulk even as its compartments are filled.
Each efficient bandolier includes an advanced AI capable of
controlling the bandolier’s robotic components to suit your needs.
As a swift action, you can command an efficient bandolier to draw
up to 1 bulk worth of batteries or ammunition, placing the items
directly into one of your hands.

It doesn't expressly say it, so I have to ask. Does the bandolier reduce reloading weapons to a swift action (providing it has enough ammo remaining)? Or is it just designed to make it easier to carry and access more ammo?

If that's the case, I haven't yet seen where the rules are on where you "carry" your ammo to make it reachable. Seems logical in your move action, someone using a ranged weapon of any kind would keep a magazine or two handy and accessible to reload in the thick of things, but what is the limit to this?

I'm not certain (still reading) but I suspect it mainly saves bulk.

You are most likely correct, based on what I've read so far.

Let me know if you come across anything that reduces reload time. Weapon I want to use for my first character has a pretty limited clip size.

Does starfinder have different types of ammo for the same weapon? (i.e. explosive rounds, magic rounds) I don't have the book yet to check.

If so wouldn't this allow you to put in multiple types of ammo and have the bandoleir give you the type you want.

Nothing super special, no magic ammo, closest thing is you can use a bow and arrow still, and at higher levels get grenade arrows which, at least the idea of, is kind of legit. But at level 1 you can get a grenade launcher and pretty much accomplish the same thing.

You can get ammo for your gun made out of silver, adamantine, and I think cold iron, I know that. So worst case, yes, you could have some of these ammos in the appropriate slot, and could access them on the fly with the swift action rather than having to spend the move action to dig them out of your pack.
