Re: Assurance Feat

eh, maybe. if the referee makes them even roll for that. practically, a one "always fail", but that's not the wording. the wording is: If you rolled a 20 on the die (a “natural 20”), your result is one degree of success better than it would be by numbers alone. If you roll a 1 on the d20 (a “natura...

Re: Assurance Feat

Just remember 1s always fail in p2 . . . . I'd have to check again but I think take 10 and take 20 was taken out of p2. So Yo Yo Ma now has a 5% chance of failing when he practices the scales on his cello? Tom Brady has a 5% chance of missing his son while playing catch? LeBron James has a 5% chanc...

Re: Assurance Feat

I've not seen a reason to take it yet. Your level is part of your proficiency bonus if you're at least trained though, so it's a little better than you're portraying. That math was including level. That's why it's so worthless. A legendary PC would need to be level 22 to be assured of completing a ...

Assurance Feat

"You can forgo rolling a skill check . . . to instead receive a result of 10 + your proficiency bonus (do not apply any other bonuses, penalties, or modifiers)." That means level plus 12 if trained, level plus 14 if master, level plus 16 if expert, level plus 18 if legendary--right? However, the sim...

Pregen it :)
You've got a higher chance of me creating a character by Thursday, and to put things in perspective: I haven't decided on an ancestry or class yet.

Re: Please Tell Me (How) I'm Wrong

I was thinking along the lines of a 1+ weapon. Usually, I would just wield it two-handed, but with the option of going one-handed plus the buckler.

I'll also note that 7 of the 12 classes get shield block feat for free (or as part of the shield cantrip)
That is nice. Hadn't noticed that part yet.

Re: Please Tell Me (How) I'm Wrong

Bucklers are in general really "meh" on the utility scale. A steel shield though is kind of nice. I've actually been wondering whether bucklers might not be the best shields now. I haven't been able to find anything about a penalty for using a two-handed weapon while wearing a buckler. Also, it loo...

Re: Please Tell Me (How) I'm Wrong

A +1 AC bonus still reduces successful hits by 5%. There is still a 5% chance of rolling 20. Unless, I misunderstood Mike, those are the parameters in his post: raising a buckler vs. attacking when only a 20 succeeds. It looks like that DR ability requires a feat AND destroys the shield, so we are b...
